State House Rep. Hoitenga introduces bill to give felons a second chance

102nd District State House Representative Michele Hoitenga has introduced a plan that gives convicted felons who have served their sentences a chance to obtain a professional license from the state.

Hoitenga’s bill is part of a five-bill package that deals with the “good moral character” of past felons applying to the state for a license to work.

“If a person has been living a life free of crime after paying their debt to society, they deserve a second chance,”Hoitenga said.

The plan amends current law to specify when a board or agency can consider a criminal conviction as evidence of a lack of good moral character.
